The founder of Boise Cascade Corp. has died.
Robert Vail Hansberger also served as a former chief executive officer of the company, a wood-products giant in its heyday that has since been largely disassembled.
He took the helm of the Boise Cascade after it was founded in 1957 with the merger of Idaho-based Boise Payette Lumber Co. and Washington-based Cascade Lumber Co. He left the company in 1972 to pursue other ventures.
Hansberger passed away at his home yesterday at the age of 87.
