A Kamiah man was killed after his semi-truck left State Highway 13 near Harpster Thursday night.

According to the Idaho State Police, Jesse Akin, 56, was driving a 1998 Peterbilt tractor and log trailer northbound on Highway 13 between Grangeville and Harpster. At about 11 p.m., the vehicle drifted across the centerline, went off the left shoulder, down the embankment and into the river.

Akin was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
