Rapid snowmelt has lifted the Spokane River and Lake Coeur d’Alene to flood stage, and flood warnings were issued for many of the region’s waterways.
The National Weather Service says havy rains that fell in the area on Tuesday could renew rises on many of the rivers.
Flood warnings continued on the Clearwater, Kettle, Methow, Moyie, Okanogan and Coeur d’Alene rivers, while the St. Joe River was five feet above flood stage near St. Maries.
The Idaho State Police closed Interstate 90 off-ramps at Cataldo because water was over the roadways, although not on I-90. Downstream, the level of Lake Coeur d’Alene had reached flood stage level.
