Idaho-based wildland firefighters are heading to California for at least the second time in 12 months to help that state combat a firestorm.

An electrical storm unleashed nearly 8,000 lightning strikes that set more than 800 wildfires across Northern California’s parched, arid grassland.

It’s not uncommon for states or regions to share firefighting resources. In 2007, for example, firefighters from Nampa also went to California to battle blazes. In the latest deployment, the Idaho firefighters are expected to be away for two weeks. (AP)
