Rugile Mileisyte, WSU and Olympic swimmerWashington State University swimmer Rugile Mileisyte’s successful summer will culminate with a trip to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. A native of Alytus, Lithuania, Mileisyte will compete for her home country at the Olympic Games in the 50 freestyle, August 15. She earned a qualifying time of 26.32 seconds in a time trial at the Seven Hill Trophy meet in Rome, Italy June 7.

Less than a week later at the Lithuanian Open Championships Mileisyte captured five gold medals and one silver medal while competing for the Kaunas Swim School. Mileisyte will train in Vilnius, Lithuania until the end of the month before traveling to Slovenia with the Lithuania national team for training camp.
