Progress continues to be made on the 800-acre Church Canyon Fire burning near Kamiah. Crews have been actively attacking hot spots and mopping up more intense areas inside the fire lines. Fire Information Officer Jill Cobb says the fire is now listed as 90-percent contained.

Although temperatures are expected to approach the triple-digit range, fire managers are confident all lines will hold.

As progress continues to be made on the fire some resources are being re-deployed to other high profile fires in the region. Officials say if mop up activities and line rehabilitation projects stay on pace, 100-percent containment could be achieved in possibly two days.
