The University of Idaho football team will open the 2008 season Saturday night when the Vandals travel to Tucson to face the University of Arizona. There has been much debate in college football as to the merits of playing a season opening game against top-notch competition with a bigger payout, or scheduling a lower level opponent in a game that serves more as a warm up with less risk of losing.

Idaho head coach Robb Akey says in the case of the Vandals, opening up with a BCS school like Arizona is a great barometer to see where the team is and what it needs to improve on.

Kick off between the Vandals and Wildcats is scheduled for 6pm Pacific time Saturday night at Arizona Stadium with live coverage beginning at 5pm on Talk Radio 950 KOZE-AM, AM 1230 KORT and AM 1300 KLER.
