Searchers continue to look for a retired Massachusetts state police captain who has been missing for nearly two weeks in north central Idaho where he went for a hunting trip.
The Idaho County Sheriff’s Department is searching for Ronald Gray, 62, and on Friday found a backpack believed to be his in the Highland Lake area near the Selway River about 100 miles northeast of Grangeville. Authorities say the last contact with Gray was Sept. 19 via radio - he was expected to meet his party four days later, but failed to arrive and was reported missing a week ago Sunday.
Search-and-rescue teams have been in the area looking on the ground and from the air with the assistance of Hillcrest Aviation and the Idaho Army National Guard.
Investigators say Gray was properly equipped for conditions and is familiar with the area.
