Two prisoners from the North Idaho Correctional Institution were apprehended Sunday night in Cottonwood shortly after making their escape.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year old Christopher Melton of Grangeville and 19-year old Brandon Ritchie of Boise were captured at about 10pm PST by Cottonwood City Police Chief Terry Cochran. The two escapees allegedly burglarized a vehicle near the city park before being apprehended.
Melton was sentenced to NICI in October by Nez perce County for Grand Theft by Possession. Ritchie was serving time for a 2008 conviction out of Ada County for Grand Theft.
Both inmates are being held by the Idaho Department of Correction while they await court hearings on additional felony charges of Escape and Burglary.
