Idaho Senators Mike Crapo and Jim Risch have successfully convinced the Obama Administration to restore $50 million in funding to restore Northwest salmon.
The President and his staff responded to requests in a letter by lawmakers in the Pacific Northwest to an original Fiscal Year 2010 budget proposal that Crapo says would have zeroed out the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Program.

The letter sent by the Senators and Representatives noted a half-million acres of habitat has been restored, and more than 3,500 miles of stream have been reopened for habitat by the Pacific Coastal Recovery Fund since its creation in 2000.
The fund focuses on salmon and steelhead recovery efforts in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska and Nevada.
Those who signed the letter include Washington Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.
