The American Automobile Association is predicting about three-quarters of a million fewer Americans will travel over the Independence Day Holiday this year compared to last year.
AAA-Idaho’s Dave Carlson says its the second consecutive year that travel will be down for what is typically the busiest summer holiday.

Soaring gasoline prices have been cited as the biggest reason for the decline. Idahoans are paying on average about $2.70 per gallon, up more than 35 cents since Memorial Day.
However, the price at the pump is significantly lower that a year ago when motorists were paying an average of $4.08 per gallon.
