New UofI president comments on institution’s future

New University of Idaho President Duane Nellis spent part of his first day on the job Wednesday talking about his vision and expectations for the school under new leadership.

The 54-year old Nellis, who took over this week, after serving as provost and senior vice president at Kansas State University, says the university faces several challenges.

Nellis becomes the third president at the U of I in three years and he and school officials are hopeful the relationship will last a long time.

The Idaho State Board of Education approved a three-year contract with an annual base salary of $335,000. Of that $298,000 is from state money and another $37,000 comes from the University of Idaho Foundation.
