Over 141,000 Idaho residents are expected to hit the highways for the Labor Day weekend.
The American Automobile Association predicts that travel nationwide will be down 13.3 percent from 2008, but AAA-Idaho’s Dave Carlson says this year could still mark the third busiest such holiday in the past decade.

Of the nine travel regions analyzed by the AAA, the Mountain West Region, which includes Idaho, is expected to see the smallest decline at 6 percent.
Travelers throughout Idaho will see gas prices at around $2.72 a gallon, up 13 cents in the past month, but $1.24 lower than a year ago.
The average gas price in Washington is $2.91 a gallon; Oregon, $2.81, and Montana, $2.75. The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $2.61 a gallon.
