Elections: Clarkston City Council, Port of Clarkston

In the Clarkston City Council race, challenger Monika Lawrence appears to be the winner over incumbent Larry Baumberger, as she leads 52 percent to 48 percent.

Some 202 ballots will be counted Friday with another 200 expected to come in before Washington’s certification date on Nov. 24.

Incumbent Terry Beadles will retain his position on the city council, winning 57 percent of the vote. His opponent, Serena Martz, received 43 percent despite announcing she did not want the position earlier this year. It had been too late to drop out, so Martz was listed on the city ballot.

Marvin Jackson, the incumbent in a two-way race for a seat on the Clarkston Port Commission, held on to his seat, beating opponent Jock Pring 64 percent to 36 percent. The tally leaves no chance the results could change when the votes are counted again.
