Elections: Elk River, Pierce, Weippe, Orofino

In Elk River, Mayor James Martin outlasted a challenge from Councilor Leroy Sims.

Martin received 31 votes compared to 23 votes for Sims. In uncontested council races, Dawn Kelley and Tammy Carey were elected to seats.

Pierce voters sent incumbent Councilor Laurence “Harv” Nelson and former Councilor Robert Harrell back to the city council in a five-way race for two spots.  Nelson had 108 votes, followed by Harrell with 98 votes, Cheryl Stenzel 66 votes, and Ben Johnson 64 votes.

Weippe’s two city council incumbents returned to their seats. Millie Morrishad 68 votes, and Bill Barteaux received 57 votes. A third candidate, Roger “Buck” Jared received 36 votes.  Weippe Mayor Norm Steadman ran unopposed in his bid for re-election.

In Orofino, incumbents Ted Brown, Michael Deitrick and Ron Banks were each re-elected in unopposed races.
