Akey: Key is limiting Fresno back’s big plays

Vandal helmetThe University of Idaho football team looks to stay in the upper echelon of the Western Athletic Conference standings this week when the Vandals host Fresno State.  Idaho is 7-2 overall and is 4-1 in league play – one game behind Boise State and Nevada. The Bulldogs are 5-3 overall and are also 4-1 in conference games behind NCAA Division I rushing leader Ryan Mathews.

Vandal head coach Robb Akey says the key to success this week isn’t necessarily stopping Mathews as much as limiting the number of big gains he will make.
