The wolf season closed Monday in the McCall-Weiser zone in west central Idaho, where the limit of 15 wolves has been reached.
It’s the second season to close this month – the wolf season in the Upper Snake wolf zone closed Nov. 2nd. Hunts remain open in the rest of the state.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game set wolf harvest limits by 12 zones. The season closes in each zone when the limit for that zone is reached or when the statewide limit of 220 wolves is reached. The statewide hunter harvest is currently at 97 wolves.
The Palouse-Hells Canyon zone, where two have been taken, is approaching the harvest limit of five.
