A Lewiston veteran and a volunteer are among the ten veterans and eight volunteers that Idaho Sen. Mike Crapo will honor on Wednesday with his Spirit of Freedom Award during five different ceremonies around Idaho on Veterans Day.
Crapo created the award to acknowledge the contributions, patriotism, service and sacrifice of Idaho’s veterans and service-oriented volunteer leaders.
Among those being honored is veteran John Wyatt, of Lewiston, who served throughout Europe during World War II. He was an Army Air Corps Sergeant whose recognition and awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Campaign medal with three Bronze Stars and several others.
Also being recognized is Lewiston volunteer Daniel Wise, who Crapo says has made his mark at the Idaho State Veterans Home in the short time that he has been volunteering.
The five ceremonies will be held in Lewiston, Boise, Pocatello, Twin Falls, and Coeur d’Alene. Lewiston’s event begins at 10 a.m. at the State Veterans Home on 21st Ave.
