
Matthew Heffelfinger
The Defense Department has confirmed that an Idaho soldier was killed in a helicopter crash in Iraq.
The soldier was identified as Army Chief Warrant Officer Mathew Heffelfinger, 29, of Kimberly.
Military officials say Heffelfinger was one of two helicopter pilots killed in crash, which occurred Sunday. The other was identified as Army Chief Warrant Officer Earl Scott, 24, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Both soldiers were assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. (AP)
