Otter holds off on appoonting new Water Resources director

IDWR1Idaho Gov. Butch Otter has told applicants who want the job as director of the state Department of Water Resources that he will not appoint anyone at this time.

An Otter spokesman says there is no timeline for when a director might be appointed.   Due to budget cuts, the agency recently had to lay off 16 people, and the governor’s office says the state is saving money by delaying the decision.

In the meantime, Gary Spackman will remain Idaho’s interim director indefinitely.  Spackman’s old job as administer of the Idaho Department of Water Resources water-management division hasn’t been filled. (AP)
