Dworshak State Park will not close afterall thanks to an agreement reached between the state, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Clearwater County Commission. State Parks and Recreation Director Nancy Merrill says the new agreement will transfer management of the park over to the county.

The park is located in the one of the state’s most economically depressed areas where revenue streams have been hit hard.
Merrill says keeping the park open has been a priority and accomplishing that goal is gratifying.

Attorneys representing all three groups are evaluating the sublease agreement and officials signing of the contract is expected soon.
