An Idaho man was severely injured in a Christmas Day hunting accident in Idaho County.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, 46-year old Shawn Crea of Bellevue was bird hunting with friends when his shotgun exploded upon being fired, causing serious injuries to his left hand.
Nearby hunters heard the man and called 9-1-1 for assistance.
Crea was initially transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Cottonwood before being transferred to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston and then on to Spokane for further treatment.
The investigation is ongoing, however, initial information indicates an improperly hand loaded shell may have been the cause of the accident.
