The Lewis-Clark State College basketball teams opened Frontier Conference play with wins over the University of Great Falls Thursday night at the Activity Center.
Pullman sophomore post Kirsi Voshell and sophomore wing Jasmine Stohr led a balanced offensive attack with 13 points each as the 11th ranked Warrior women rolled past the Argonauts 78-50. Junior forward Lauren Daling added 10 points as LC extended its winning streak to eight straight while pushing its overall record to 15-2.
Defensively, the Warriors forced Great Falls into 26 turnovers and held the Argos to just 34 percent shooting.
Meanwhile, the LC men had to overcome a second-half lull in holding off Great Falls 76-68.
Junior guard Markus Monroe led four Warriors in double figures scoring with 22 points and added a game high 8 assists to go along with 7 rebounds. Junior guard Derek Gianukakis, making just his second start of the season, made four three-pointers and finished with 14 points.
On the defensive end, LC held the Argonauts to 38 percent shooting from the floor and forced 17 turnovers. With the win the Warriors improve to 10-5 overall.
