Lewis-Clark State College continued its trend of impressive growth in student enrollment by setting an enrollment record for the sixth straight semester.  The college set a spring enrollment record for the third consecutive year with 3,915 students for the current semester according to the school’s 10th day report.

LCSC President Dene Thomas says the increase shows the school is meeting its mission to serve the growing educational needs of the region and state.

With a state unemployment rate just over 9 percent, the uptick in enrollment isn’t unexpected and Thomas believes LCSC serves as an economic engine toward recovery.

The 2010 Spring enrollment number is an 8.72 percent increase over last year’s spring total of 3,601. Over the past three years LCSC’s enrollment has increased by almost 700 students.

The spring total enrollment is also the second-highest enrollment in school history, just behind the all-time record of 4,200 students set last fall.
