One person was killed in a house fire in rural Idaho County Monday night.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, dipatchers were alerted to a home fire on Nelson Road near Kooskia at around 10:25pm PST. Crews from the Ridge Runner Volunteer Fire Department, BPC Volunteer Fire Department, Tahoe Quick Response, Kooskia Ambulance, Idaho County Light and Power and the sheriff’s department all responded.
Upon arrival emergency responders found the home fully engulfed and entry to attempt to locate the homeowner was not possible. Members of the Ridge Runner Fire Department stayed on scene throughout the night.
On Tuesday the Idaho County Deputies discovered human remains, believed to be those of the homeowner. The victims name is being withheld pending family notification.
The Idaho State Fire Marshall’s Office will conduct the investigation into the cause of the fire.
