U.S. 12 accident near Lowell sends two people to the hospital

A Montana couple was hospitalized following a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 12 east of Lowell Sunday afternoon.

According to the Idaho State Police, a 2006 Toyota 4-Runner driven by Jessica Martin, 26, of Elk City, was heading west at about 12:40 p.m. at milepost 124. Martin lost control of the vehicle on the icy roadway, colliding with an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Kevin Todd, 45, of on Missoula. Todd was transported to Syringa General Hospital in Grangeville, while his passenger, Jodi Todd, 44, was airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.

Martin was uninjured, and all three were reportedly wearing their seatbelts.

The accident blocked the highway for about 2-and-a-half hours.

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Department, Powell Quick Response Unit, Kooskia Ambulance and Idaho Transportation Department assisted ISP in responding to the accident.
