Idaho lawmaker seeks to neuter wild cats

An Idaho legislator wants to encourage sterilizing wild cats instead of killing them.
Boise Democrat Kate Kelly told the Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee Tuesday neutering feral cats is a more effective and humane way of tackling cat colonies.
State law currently makes it illegal to capture, neuter and release wild cats. Kelly introduced a measure that would allow counties and cities to make it legal.
Kelly says the state law isn’t often enforced, but has deterred some communities from neutering the cats.
There are currently thousands of feral cats in Idaho. (AP)
