LCSC basketball: Men win, women fall to Tech

The Lewis-Clark State basketball teams split their Frontier Conference games Thursday night at the Activity Center.

The 11th ranked Warrior women suffered their first home loss of the season and second overall to Montana Tech 70-66.

Tech guard Taesha Higbee recorded game highs of 20 points and 13 rebounds and guard Jessie Depell hit 10 of 12 free throws, including two down the stretch in snapping the Warriors’ five game winning streak.

Sophomore post Kirsi Voshell led led LC with 19 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jasmine Stohr added 16.

With loss, the Warriors fall to 22-4 overall and 8-2 in Frontier Conference play, one game behind Westiminster.

Meanwhile the Warrior men made it a season sweep of the Tech men with an 87-72 win.

Junior guard Markus Monroe poured in a game-high 22 points and while senior post Tanner McIntosh and senior guard Daniel Williams added 18 and 15 points respectively as LC shot 55-percent from the field.

Defensively, LC forced the Orediggers into 18 turnovers that led to 25 points.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 13-11 overall and 4-5 in league play.

Up next both teams will host their final home games of the season Saturday night against Montana Western.
