Oil prices rallied this week, ending today’s trading at $79.81 a barrel. Oil futures closed the session up 0.9 percent, on the heels of a stronger dollar and the Federal Reserve’s move to raise its discount rate. The finishing price is up from near $71 a barrel just 13 days ago.

Carlson comments on the volatility of oil prices.

In terms of demand forecasts, which have been slightly mixed, Carlson says overall there does not appear to be any dramatic improvements on the horizon.

Carlson says it’s tough to see big changes anytime soon.
