Troy; Lapwai advance at 1-A boys tourney

Troy and Lapwai will meet for 3rd place in the Idaho District II 1-A Division I Boys Basketball Tournament at the LCSC Activity Center after pulling off wins in the elimination bracket Tuesday night.

Troy rallied from a five point deficit at halftime to beat Genesee 42-39. Senior post Clayton Schultz led the way, scoring 24 points, all of which came in close to the basket.

Senior Sam Hermann led the Genesee offensively with 15 points in the loss.

Meanwhile, 7th seed Lapwai surprised #5 seed Clearwater Valley with a 74-62 win.

Senior Nigele Williamson led four Wildcats in double figures with 18 points, while junior Quintyn Leighton added 14 and sophomores Rielly Leighton and Keith Moore each had 12 in the win.

Clearwater Valley senior Jesse Davis led all scorers with 22 points in the loss.

The tournament concludes Thursday night at the LCSC Activity Center with Troy meeting Lapwai for third place at 6:15pm PST and top-ranked Prairie will meet 3rd seed Kendrick in the district title game at approximately 7:45pm.
