UI considers 12 percent fee hike for 2010-11

The University of Idaho has proposed an initial 12 percent fee hike for the 2010-11 school year.

A public meeting in Moscow is scheduled for next week on the proposal, which would result in students paying $296 more to attend school per semester, for a total of $2,762, beginning next fall.

UI’s plan is the highest initial fee proposal of the state’s four year colleges and universities for next school year. Both Boise State University and Idaho State University have suggested 9.9 percent increases, while Lewis-Clark State College has proposed a 8.75 percent jump.

Final proposals will be submitted to the State Board of Education, and the board will set fees during its April 5 meeting.  (Idaho Statesman)
