University of Idaho President Duane Nellis is confirming that employee furloughs are pending amid shortfalls in state funding for higher education in the current fiscal year.
In a letter to university employees and students this week, Nellis said details of the furlough plan will be announced early next week. This fiscal year ends June 30.
Public universities and colleges are scaling back more than $30 million in current spending, when combining a $15.2 million loss in September with more cuts announced last week, to help offset state revenue declines. (AP)
