Good samaritan picks up $700 tab for Idaho guardsmen

The Idaho Army National Guard says an anonymous do-gooder recently picked up a $700 tab for nearly 60 recruits at an eastern Idaho restaurant.

Master Sgt. Jim Blake says the man, described as an older cowboy, didn’t make a big fuss as he paid the dinner bill. He also didn’t leave behind a lot of information, which means the guard can’t thank him by name.

Blake says the man quickly expressed appreciation for the guardsmen and their service to the country before leaving the Golden Corral restaurant in Pocatello late Saturday.

The 59 recruits included newly enlisted volunteer soldiers, as well as some non-commissioned officers and cadets in preparation for basic training. (AP)
