Minnick joins Democrats to support of jobs bill

Rep. Walt Minnick

U.S. Representative Walt Minnick (D-Idaho) says he is confident the jobs bill approved by the U.S. House will create jobs for small businesses employers and jumpstart the nation’s economic revival.

Minnick joined House Democrats on Thursday to support a package that extends federal highway programs through the end of the year.

Republican Rep. Mike Simpson voted against the bill, which now awaits Senate approval.

Minnick, Idaho’s lone Democrat in Congress, believes small businesses will be the engine that helps get the nation’s struggling economy back on track. He says the $35 billion measure helps small employers by offering them tax incentives for hiring new workers.

It also would extend highway and mass transit programs through the end of the year and pump in 20 Billion dollars in time for the spring construction season. (AP)
