Driver accused hitting two at WSU deemed fit to stand trial

A Moscow man accused of injuring two Washington State University students in a December hit-and-run has been released from a hospital and deemed ready to stand trial.

Doctors at Eastern Washington State Hospital declared Dan Noble, 31, fit to stand trial. Noble is charged with two felony counts of vehicular assault, two felony counts of hit and run and misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Police say he was driving erratically on the Moscow-Pullman Highway on the morning of December 7, before turning onto Stadium Way in Pullman campus and striking two pedestrians a block apart on the WSU campus.

Noble’s attorney has previously told the court his client was suffering from caffeine-induced psychosis brought on by too much coffee and energy drinks.

Doctors in Moses Lake have since diagnosed Noble with bipolar disorder and placed him on medication.

He is being held in the Whitman County Jail on $250,000 bond. An arraignment is scheduled for April 9.
