Idaho House approves tuition break for out-of-state veterans

Veterans who have served in the military for at least two years and received an honorable discharge are one step closer to receiving a substantial break in tuition payments at Idaho’s colleges and universities.

The Idaho House on Friday voted for a measure that would give those veterans in-state tuition at publicly-funded institutions of higher education.

Co-sponsors of the bill, which had the input of the State Department of Education, estimate the tuition break could save out-of-state veterans as much as $10,000 during the course of their education.

The measure has already passed the Senate and is on its way to Gov. Butch Otter for his signature. (IdahoReporter.com)
