The Idaho Department of Education wants feedback on new rigorous learning standards for students in kindergarten through 12th grades.
Idaho is among 48 states that have agreed to adopt the new proposed standards, which were released last week and are available for public comment until April 2.
A draft of the Common Core State Standards in English, language arts and math is available online. Governors and education leaders proposed the sweeping changes and hope to publish final education goals for math and English in May.
At that point, Idaho public schools chief Tom Luna says the state will begin the process of adopting the new rules, which will also go to the state Board of Education and Idaho lawmakers for final approval. (AP)
