NAIA announces potential opening round host sites

The NAIA has announced the list of potential host sites for the 2010 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round.

The official list of nine hosts will be confirmed when the field is announced on May 14th. The selection process takes into account qualification, minimum bid, facilities and geography.

A total of 10 schools and or conferences have submitted host bids, however only 8 host sites are available. The Columbus Sports Council in Columbus, Georgia is already confirmed to host one of the nine opening round events. Potential hosts include: Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California; Belhaven University located in Jackson, Mississippi; California Baptist in Riverside, California; Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida; Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California; the Chicagoland Collegiate Conference and the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois; Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee; Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri; Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas; and Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

All nine opening round winners, along with Lewis-Clark State, advance to the 2010 Avista NAIA World Series which runs May 28th through June 4 at Harris Field in Lewiston.
