The Washington State Court of Appeals has denied the appeal of a California man convicted of raping a Washington State University student in 2007.
Christopher Jack Reid, an adult film actor, was given a life sentence for second-degree rape and three burglary counts for breaking into a WSU sorority and sexually assaulting the woman.
Reid, who also goes by the name of “Jack Venice,” will be eligible for parole in nine years.
In his appeal, Reid primarily argues that the trial court erred by not granting a continuance, and that his counsel erred in several instances, resulting in ineffective assistance.
The appellate court concluded that the trial court did not abuse its discretion in denying in the continuance and that Reid has not shown that his attorney performed so deficiently that he was denied his right to counsel. (KHQ)
