Lewiston woman sentenced in fake robbery scheme

A Lewiston woman will spend 70 days in jail for making false robbery allegations that led to the theft of more than $5,000 from her employer. 31-year-old

Trisha Reynolds was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 120 days suspended on one count of felony grand theft, and an additional 10 days on a misdemeanor charge of making a false 9-1-1 report. Reynolds reported she was mugged outside a Lewiston bank last November of a bank deposit from the Clarkston Zip Trip.

Reynolds later told Lewiston police she made up the story and her boyfriend, William Willams, took about $4,000 of the deposit. Reynolds will spend five years on probation and was given a withheld judgment in the case, meaning the charge will be dismissed if she successfully completes the terms of her probation. Reynolds must also pay restitution.

Williams, 42, who was sought following the incident for failing to check in with his probation officer, was later arrested but has not been charged in connection with the theft.
