A Moscow man accused of injuring two Washington State University students in a December hit-and-run has been acquitted.
Whitman County Superior Court Judge David Frazier has granted a defense motion to acquit 31-year-old Daniel Noble, who had pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of vehicular assault, two felony counts of hit and run and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Frazier ruled Noble was temporarily insane during the December 9th incident in which the two students were struck by Noble’s car on the WSU campus in Pullman. Frazier granted the motion based on the defense’s intent to use an insanity defense at trial.
Noble’s attorney has previously told the court his client was suffering from caffeine-induced psychosis brought on by too much coffee and energy drinks.
In March, doctors at Eastern Washington State Hospital declared Noble fit to stand trial.
