NAIA announces pairings for national opening round tournament

The NAIA National Opening Round Baseball Tournament bracket has been released.

The 45-team field will be held at nine separate locations across the country with five teams in each group and a double elimination format May 18 – May 21.

Group One will be held in Joliet, Illinois and will include Cumberland of Tennessee, Campbellsville of Kentucky, St. Francis of Illinois, Robert Morris of Illinois and Mayville State of North Dakota.

Group Two will be held in Riverside, California and includes California Baptist, Madonna of Michigan, the College of Idaho, Vanguard of California, and Huntington of Indiana.

Group Three will be held in Cleveland, Tennessee and will include Lee of Tennessee, South Carolina- Beaufort, Taylor of Indiana, William Jewell of Missouri, and Mount Vernon Nazarene of Ohio.

Group Four will be held in Lubbock, Texas and will include Lubbock Christian, York of Nebraska, Avila of Missouri, Mount Mary of South Dakota and Texas at Brownsville.

Group Five will be played in Oklahoma City and will include Oklahoma City, Union of Tennessee, Jamestown of North Dakota, Grand View of Iowa and Northwestern of Iowa.

Group Six will be in Fresno, California and will include the University of British Columbia, Fresno Pacific of California, Point Loma Nazarene of California, Houston-Victoria of Texas and Ohio Dominican.

Group Seven will be in Daytona Beach, Florida and will include Embry-Riddle of Florida, Faulkner of Alabama, Rio Grande of Ohio, Union of Kentucky and St. Thomas of Florida.

Group Eight will be in Columbus, Georgia and will include Louisiana State-Shreveport, Southern Poly Tech of Georgia, Tennessee Wesleyan, Indiana Southeast and Indiana Tech.

Group Nine will be in Jackson, Mississippi and will include Missouri Baptist, Belhaven of Mississippi, Brewton-Parker of Georgia, Texas Wesleyan and Kansas Wesleyan.

The nine winners of each opening round tournament will advance and join Lewis-Clark State for the 54th Annual Avista NAIA World Series beginning May 28th at Harris Field in Lewiston, Idaho.
