The American Automobile Association is predicting more than 32.1 million Americans, or 5.4 percent more that last year, will travel 50 miles or more from home over the Memorial Day Holiday period.
Dave Carslon with the Idaho-AAA says an even higher percentage of people in the west, including Idaho, are expected to leave home this year.

National projections indicate that 28 million – or 87-percent of all US travelers — will be going by car, representing a 5.8 percent increase over last year.
Air travel will account for 2.5 million holiday travelers, or 7-percent of the total, up slightly from the 2.1 million who flew a year ago.
The average distance traveled by Americans over the holiday is forecast to be 626 miles and the median spending is estimated to be $809.
