The Idaho State Board of Education has assembled its committee to head the national search for the next president of Lewis-Clark State College.
Dene Thomas, who has been president at LCSC since 2001, announced in April that she accepted the presidency at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. She begins those duties on July 1.
Last month, the board selected LCSC Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Tony Fernandez as the college’s interim president, while the national search is carried out. Fernandez has indicated he intends to apply for the permanent position.
The LCSC Presidential Search Committee will be chaired by Don Soltman, the Secretary of the state board. Committee members include:
-Former State Board of Education president Paul Agidius
-LCSC Foundation Director “Butch” Alford
-Lewiston state Senator and LCSC Foundation Director Joe Stegner,
-Avista Corporation Regional Business Manager and LCSC Foundation Director Mike Thomason
-LCSC Professional Staff Organization Chair Dawn Byers
-LCSC Coeur d’Alene Campus Director Cyndie Hammond
-LCSC Dean of Student Services Andy Hanson
-Former LCSC Classified Staff Organization President Patty Leonard
-Former LCSC Faculty Senate chair Joni Mina
-Student Government Associate Justice Andy Ridinger.
The committee will meet to review a job description, resumes and ultimately offer a list of suggested finalists to the State Board. Soltman says there is no set time frame for the committee to deliver a list of suggested finalists, but he expects the work to take several months to possibly a year.
