LCSC Service Corps will be able to fund 126 positions with grant

The Lewis-Clark State College Service Corps will be able to fund 126 full- and part-time positions around the state with a $1.37 million AmeriCorps grant, the largest in the program’s history in Idaho.

The grant comes through Serve Idaho, Governor Butch Otter’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism, which is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps’ parent organization.

The LCSC Service Corps partners with public and charter schools in 17 school districts.

Members also provide services to adult students at colleges, universities and prisons, and serve homeless families and students through faith-based organizations and community service agencies. Services include tutoring, mentoring, coordinating literacy and math programs, and leading service learning activities.
