AUDIO: ISP introduces E-Tickets July 1

Beginning Thursday, July 1, the Idaho State Police will begin using an electronic system to issue traffic citations.

The system was purchased with a $900,000 Federal Recovery Act grant awarded to ISP last fall.

ISP Lieutenant Ismael Gonzalez says the system, dubbed “E-Ticketing”, will allow for quicker, more accurate citations which will be transmitted electronically to the courts.

Idaho State Police Lt. Ismael Gonzalez comments

The new system will also expedite the time troopers and motorists spend stopped alongside the roadway, which should improve safety for both.

Lt. Gonzalez says improved safety is hoped for with the new system

Another change in the ticket issuing process will be the elimination of motorists signing tickets. The trooper will just print it out and hand it to the driver.
