Boise man missing, believed to have drowned near Riggins

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a Boise man missing and believed to have drowned in the main Salmon River over the weekend.

Jeremy Garland, 29, was swimming about 8 miles upriver from Riggins when the sheriff’s office said he attempted to cross the river Saturday afternoon and was swept away by the current.

Garland had not been found by Monday afternoon, but the sheriff’s office said search teams were continuing in their efforts to locate him.

Sheriff’s deputies from Idaho and Clearwater counties and officials from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are all taking part in the search.
