Idaho County accident victim taken to hospital in Spokane

A 14-year-old girl who was airlifted to Lewiston after a car accident in Idaho County over the weekend was later transferred to a Spokane hospital.

Katie McKinney was the passenger in a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder that was traveling north on State Highway 13, when a 2003 Jeep being towed by a motor home detached and collided with the Nissan.

McKinney was airlifted by Life Flight to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

The car’s driver, Amber Lyons, 20, of Kooskia, and two passengers, ages 18 and 2, were taken to Syringa Hospital in Grangeville, where their conditions were not released.

The occupants of the motor home, who were not immediately identified, were not injured in the accident. They called the sheriff’s office after learning the Jeep they were towing had come loose.
