Northwest campers are urged to buy firewood near campgrounds to avoid transporting wood that could spread invasive critters.
The “Buy It Where You Burn It” campaign announced Friday by the Washington Invasive Species Council is a joint effort with Oregon and Idaho.
The council says wood-boring insects that have defoliated forests in the Midwest and East can travel inside firewood. (AP)
