Salmon man struck by lighting, killed

Lemhi County officials say a University of Idaho ranch employee was struck and killed by lighting during a strong thunderstorm in east central Idaho.

Auhtorities say Michael Haslett, 37, of Salmon, was riding a horse and herding cattle at the university’s Hot Springs Ranch at about 4 p.m. Tuesday when he was struck and killed. The horse also died.

Two other people who were herding cows on the ranch about eight miles north of Salmon witnessed the lightning strike. (AP)
